The enrolment process.

The Federal Government (through the Department of Education) has determined priority of access guidelines for allocating places in a government funded childcare centre. They are:

  • Priority 1:  A child at risk of serious abuse or neglect.

  • Priority 2:  A child of a single parent who satisfies, or of parents who both satisfy the work/training/study test, under Section 14 of the Family Assistance Act.

  • Priority 3:  Any other child.

Within each priority mentioned above, Time 4 Kindy choose to give the following children priority:

  • Children in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander families;

  • Children and families which include a person with a disability;

  • Children in families which include a person with an individual whose taxable income percentage under Clause 7 of Schedule 2 to the Family Assistance Act is 100%;

  • Children in families with a non-English speaking background;

  • Children in socially isolated families; and

  • Children of single parents.

Time 4 Kindy must, by law adhere to these guidelines.

Waiting lists.

Parents who require care must place their name on the centre’s waiting list by filling in the centre’s waiting list form.  Waiting lists are kept in date order and must be updated every 4-5 months by the applicant.  If the applicant does not contact the centre within that period, their application is removed from the waiting list.

On acceptance of a position for a child at the centre, parents must arrange for a pre-enrolment visit with the Director/Nominated Supervisor.  During this visit:

  • Parents must provide the completed enrolment form (giving at least one emergency contact number).

  • Provide proof of their child’s immunisation by bringing a copy of their child's Immunisation Register Statement

  • Parents will pay a $150 non-refundable enrolment fee upon accepting a position at the centre.

  • Parents will be given the opportunity to discuss the contents of the Parent Information Handbook that has been provided to them.

  • Parents will be informed about the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and that the amount of CCS they receive cannot be assessed until the centre has received a copy of the assessment notice from the Department of Human Services.
